Who knew the Russians were so forward looking?

Well it's those Russians again.  The latest is that Trump was identified about 5 years ago by those wily folks and groomed to be President of the United States, because, you know, he was so likely to be the party's candidate in 2016 (flying pigs likely).  And on the word of an alleged retired or former MI6 type, who might have been gaslighting his employer for a fairly hefty paycheck knowing full well they couldn't check any of his stuff, we're now involved in "pissgate".

Here, you can read the full "dossier" yourself.

This has been floating around since 2015 and no one, not a single intel agency or journalist, has been able to verify a single thing.  Nothing.  Yet here it is, because?
U.S. officials have confirmed that a summary of the information had been given to Mr. Trump. They said sharing of such unverified information was taken out of an abundance of caution that the incoming president should be aware of allegations being made against him that could become public—a decision intelligence experts backed.
Riiiiight.  Why not attach a copy of the National Enquirer and say, "hey, this is out there"?

What it did was give the green light to fake news outlets like Buzz Feed who quickly took the cue and published the unverified allegations.  Of course along with a word salad disclaimer that says "this is really BS, but here it is".

Oh, and how did this even become "news", you ask?  Well, pretty simple really:
The former official who compiled the dossier works for a private investigations company and was hired by both Republican and Democratic opponents of Mr. Trump to investigate him, according to one official close to the matter.
I read somewhere where this person received somewhere just short of a half million dollars.  Gee, I wonder if he felt compelled to "produce"?

Look, I have nothing particularly good to say about Donald Trump nor did I vote for him.  But a fairly close look at this gives one the feeling that they're looking at the outline to a fairly bad fiction spy novel ... at best.  Frankly, it seems to be trash.  And despite the burning desire of any number of journalists to be able to report this "bombshell" they haven't been able to verify any of it in all that time.

But that wasn't the point of the release, was it?  Much as was done to Clarence Thomas, this is more of a high-tech lynching attempt than any attempt to get the "truth" out there.

I am so tired of this sort of crap.
